An Introduction to Legal Issues in Open Source Software
The use of open source software and other free software provides developers with many benefits in terms of cost, interoperability and customization. Although the use of such software may be free of cost, it is usually not free of responsibility. As such, it is important to understand what terms and conditions apply to open source usage and how to comply with such terms and conditions.
Join Fox Rothschild attorney Brienne Terril for this introduction to the legal issues involved in using, modifying and developing open source software. Brienne will discuss the different types of licensing arrangements that may apply to open source software usage, and will provide an overview of the risks and consequences associated with each. She will also highlight suggestions for implementing best practices with respect to using open source software.
